Orbotech Ltd. today announced the introduction of its new Sprint™-8 inkjet legend printer for the bare printed circuit board (PCB) production industry.
With its unique UCI technology™ (UV Curing Integrated), Sprint-8 delivers the highest quality legend imaging with ultra-fast speed at the lowest cost of ink per print for all PCB applications.
“Sprint-8 incorporates the extensive experience and know-how of our previous systems into a powerful next generation solution”, commented Mr. Hanan Gino, President of the PCB Division at Orbotech Ltd. “By combining the most advanced inkjet legend printing capabilities with the lowest cost per print, we are able to give manufacturers a tool for achieving a new level of production efficiency and quality in this process. With a typical return on investment of less than one year, we believe it will also have a major impact on operational costs.”
Sprint-8 printers deliver new innovations for inkjet legend imaging. With its high-performance print heads and electronics, Sprint-8 can image even the most challenging legend jobs efficiently and accurately. Orbotech’s UCI Technology provides “on-the-fly” UV curing and registration as well as dynamic scaling prior to printing the legend. A unique UV light source cures the ink immediately as it hits the substrate, resulting in a fully cured legend after imaging each of the panel’s sides, thus eliminating two of the baking cycles required by conventional screening or other inkjet solutions. For traceability, Sprint-8 has multiple serialization and bar-coding options. The system is extremely versatile. Its full specification range includes a large depth of focus (DOF) for printing with exceptional results on warped panels, fine features down to 3 mil lines and 0.5mm text, large panels (up to 30”), very thick panels (up to 10mm) and support for printing sides A-A or A-B. Sprint-8 uses high quality UV ink that achieves the best adhesion, complies with several MIL standards, and has superior drop control and final thickness. Sprint-8 operation is simple and easy, requiring only minimal training. Key benefits include significantly reduced cycle time, yield improvement with minimized handling requirements, and improved operational efficiencies – all while realizing major cost savings.
