YAVNE, ISRAEL, Orbotech Ltd. today announced the introduction of its 'Experience Defect Freedom' campaign highlighting the Company's total solution approach for defect prevention which expands the role of AOI from traditional defect detection alone to a high performance tool for improving overall line quality in electronics assembly manufacturing.
Orbotech's defect prevention solution features high performance AOI systems for every inspection stage ' post-paste, post-placement and post-reflow ' together with its new, integrated ADVISOR Central™ database and software tools.
From a single source, electronics assembly manufacturers can access real-time process performance results. The Company's AOI systems deliver highly accurate measurement and defect attribute data to the ADVISOR Central™ database. This is combined with information from other SMT line systems, via a straightforward open-system protocol. Using the comprehensive monitoring and analysis tools available in ADVISOR Central™ and its alarm engine for process excursion notification, manufacturers can quickly identify trends that lead to defective boards and pinpoint sources of errors.
'In conventional SMT environments, important process data is usually dispersed throughout the manufacturing line, in many different formats, and is difficult and costly to compile. It is often collected manually, after the fact, if at all, and is not used effectively. Orbotech's solution provides a foundation for changing this via a centralized, open architecture platform with fast, easy information access and flexible analysis capabilities', explained Mr. Zvika Segal, President of the Electronics Assembly Division at Orbotech Ltd. 'By turning their line data into action for pro-active process control, our customers can experience the freedom that results from the reduction of defects - higher yields, better production efficiencies and increased profitability.'
